Of all of the elements that go into the making of a quality fishing rod, few are as important as the handle or grip.

For all of the attention that has been given to the construction of rod blanks and guides from space age materials, relatively little attention until now has gone into the design and construction of the one component that actually connects angler and rod - the handle.

The result of existing designs for increasing numbers of anglers has been a painful medical condition of the wrist known as tenosynovitis, which we call the "Achilles heel" of serious fishermen who log long hours and hard days on the water.

After the casting motion and traditional "through-the-blank" designs were analyzed, it became clear that the culprit is fundamentally a lack of balance between the rod and reel. This results in strain that often manifests itself in the form of numbness or pain in the elbow, wrist or "trigger" finger as the forearm twists and fights to offset excessive torque created by a rod and reel combination that is out of balance.
